It's more than big! It's greater than large! This massive 2,652 piece wooden jigsaw puzzle features a high quality image of the famous 'Planiglobii Terrestris' antique world map, drawn by Johann Baptist Homann in around 1716. More designs are planned for the future. This large wooden jigsaw puzzle is a 'Multi-Puzzle' composite consisting of 12 x 221 piece puzzles. Overall size: 108 x 100cm (42.5 x 39.4in) The puzzle is supplied in a strong wooden box (it weighs 4.8 kg - 10.6 lbs), with a printed copy of the map on the box lid. As with all of our wooden puzzles, the pieces are made of a strong wood fibreboard, with a high quality post-printed glossy surface, making them extremely long lasting and wear resistant. More about the artist Johann Baptist Homann was a German cartographer and one of the most celebrated map publishers of his day. The 'Planiglobii Terrestris' is considered one of Homann's best works, which was produced as a black and white print and then hand-coloured. There are numerous surviving editions of this map. The one featured on this jigsaw puzzle is housed in the Geography and Map Division of the Library of Congress. More about the jigsaw The pieces are supplied mixed in the box. After your first completion of the puzzle, you can bag each of the 12 individual puzzle elements separately if the want a slightly easier challenge next time. Note: Alignment of the 12 individual puzzles is excellent, as seen on the photo of a completed puzzle, but can vary by 1 - 3mm due to the nature of the printing process.
