Examples of Repaired Jigsaw Puzzles (Page 2)
Many thanks to Hilary Head of Devon in the UK who sent in these fantastic before and after photos of her Ravensburger 1500 piece jigsaw puzzle "Flight of the Lynx" by Josephine Wall.
After receiving the replacement piece Hilary wrote, "Just to say how happy I am with my replacement piece & that I will happily recommend your services to others!!"
Here is a wonderful story from J.L. (USA):
Dear Jigsaw Doctor:
You recently created a puzzle piece for me and I am very grateful! It came out perfect!!!!!
Here's the story behind the puzzle...
The puzzle is a cartoon image of Providence, Rhode Island. It showed a number of major streets, landmarks, and many businesses in the City. Providence is a city of 500,000 people and is the Capitol of the State of Rhode Island. I grew up in a suburb of Providence called Warwick, which I believe was named after a location in England. Providence is one of the oldest New England cities and was established by Massachusetts colonists who were unhappy with the government in Massachusetts (American’s unhappy with the government – imagine that!!!).
As I was working on the puzzle, I started having this funny feeling that I would get to the end and discover missing pieces. I am not a “puzzle person” and have never done on in my whole life. The idea of taking up so much time and having an incomplete product was very frightening. As I approached the end, my wife helped me put the final pieces together. Considering the number of moves, my lack of memory about where the puzzle came from, and the fact that the box was unwrapped, I was actually surprised to find only one missing piece. Of course, the piece was right in the middle of the puzzle!!!
I searched online, with no luck, hoping the puzzle manufacturer could provide a replacement piece. I looked on EBay and other internet sites hoping to find someone selling the whole puzzle – I was willing to purchase one in hopes of getting the missing piece. I even contemplated creating my own. Then I found your website!!!!
Thanks to the technology of the internet, I as able to locate someone with your skill to help me out. The result is that I have a beautiful complete puzzle framed on my office wall. It reminds me of my home and elicits questions from everyone who comes to visit, allowing me to talk about the city I miss very much. I also always end up telling the story of how I had to send the puzzle pieces “across the pond” to get the missing one made. No one can pick out the missing piece either! And, most of all, I now have a new appreciation for the fun of doing a puzzle and having a piece of artwork in the end.
I genuinely hope your business is profitable and fun. I will be sure to tell people the story and let me know how to find you if they have a similar dilemma.
Thanks again!
Respectfully,
J.L. (USA)
Many thanks to Frank Farrar (Washington, USA), who has sent these pictures of his Milton Bradley Magnum series 3000 jigsaw puzzle before and after the replacement piece was produced.
